Video captures from Milwaukee Airshow
The Milwaukee AirExpo rolled into town today - the headline act was the Blue Angels so needless to say I stopped by the lakefront to take a look. It was very hot in downtown Milwaukee this afternoon and the airshow was a lot busier than last year’s event - the Blue Angels Im sure had something to do with this. I had the video camera and the digital camera along to record the event but the camera had some issues so all I have at the moment are some still frames from the video.
There were a variety of planes on show but I got there a little late thanks to fighting the traffic and having to carry in a bunch of gear so I missed some of the early performers. There was a fly-by with an A10, F16 and P51; the F16 demo was suitably noisy and the acrobatics demonstrations of Mike Hunter in the Fight for Diabetes Laser 230 and Mike Goulian in a CAP232 were very good. My video of Goulian was often interrupted by the trees, he was that low! The Red Baron Stearman biplanes did a great 4-plane exhibition of formation flight and aerial artistry, drawing hearts in the sky and some spectacular shots of all four planes in close formation doing loops and hammerhead turns.
Of course the Blue Angels were the main act and they certainly didn’t disappoint. The precision they demonstrated in their high speed maneuvers and formation flight was phenomenal and they gave the lakefront audience a show they will remember. I’ve attached some of the stills from the video, as time allows I will try and put some of the actual footage online so others can enjoy some of the action.
